Correct and Return

Correct and Return Guidelines

C/R’s

C/R’s are correct and return papers. Any paper is a C/R paper that is 69% or lower. Your child is to correct the mistakes on another piece of paper (do not have them erase the wrong answer or it won't be counted), and have you sign at the top of the paper. This is so I know that you have seen the work they are having some difficulty with and that they have corrected it correctly. I issue C/R points and note this in the grade book. Please refer to letter that was sent home Meet the Teacher Night for further information. There is also a copy below if you can't find yours. If your child is struggling in a particular area C/R’s are the way to earn extra credit, reinforce a weak area, and a way to bring up a grade. These papers will have an AP written on it and then will be returned to you.

Correct and Return (C/R) policy

  • Students can earn extra points by correcting and returning any graded papers they receive from me.
  • I will write a C/R on any papers that have a grade of 59 or lower. These papers must be signed by a parent and returned within a week or credit will not be given. After 3-4 of these types of papers are not returned, the parents will then be contacted to insure that the student has shown these papers to them. After the first nine weeks, C/Rs will be at teacher discretion. Tests are not eligible for this program.
  • C/R papers must be corrected by the student at home and discussed with the parent.
  • All corrections are to be written on a separate sheet and attached to the original paper. DO NOT ERASE MISSED ANSWERS-CREDIT WILL NOT BE GIVEN.
  • Confusing questions or papers of concern must have a notation from a parent so the teacher can address the problem.
  • Once I see corrections and your signature, I will write AP on the paper and return it to your child to file at home.
  • Half credit will be given to any incorrect answer that is then answered correctly.

Example: A student receives an 70% on a paper that has 20 questions. Each question is worth 5 points a piece. The student corrects the six answers she/he has gotten wrong on a separate sheet and attaches it to the original one. None of the original answers are erased, the parent has signed at the top of the corrected paper, and the paper is returned within a week of being sent home. The teacher then gives 2.5 points for each answer that is changed to the correct answer. The student’s grade goes from an 70% (C-)to a 85% (B). The teacher will write the new grade at the top of the paper, write AP on it, and return it to the student.

Important

All correct and returns are due no later than a week after received.
