About our class:

Our class is a multi-categorical self-contained special education class that serves students in grades 6-8. Our students receive modified instruction in our classroom related to their specific academic needs and go to related arts classes with general education peers. Myself and Mrs. Galloway-Smith both teach these classes and these students switch between our classes for ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students are assessed and then placed in academic learning groups based on levels to help tailor their instruction to optimize learning for all students in both classrooms. We use a variety of instructional strategies such as whole class instruction, small group instruction, and individual instruction to ensure all students receive the most appropriate instruction. Speech therapy is also provided for students who qualify.  These services are provided in individual or small group settings.
