Dear Parents,

My name is Maria Medina and I will be teaching your child Spanish this year! I am very excited about this opportunity, and I believe your child will have a fun and positive experience during Spanish class. I am from Colombia, South America and I am very passionate about my native language and culture. I cannot wait to inspire my students to develop the interest and love for the Spanish language

Spanish will be offered once a week to all students in second through fifth grade. Second graders will have Spanish class once a week for a thirty-minute period. Third, fourth, and fifth graders will have Spanish class once a week for a forty-five-minute period. My class will be conducted mostly in Spanish, and the students will have the opportunity to develop and practice the four necessary skills for learning a foreign language: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The students will learn through physical activities, games, and songs. They will also learn to ask and respond to simple questions and demonstrate understanding of Spanish when spoken in simple phrases and sentences. The students are expected to speak and practice in the Spanish language and to have a positive attitude. Please read the syllabus located on my website for all the information regarding curriculum, behavior and grades policy for Spanish class. No homework is required for Spanish class.

I am looking forward to working with your child this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like to know more about the curriculum or expectations. My email address is mimedina@greenville.k12.sc.us My phone number is 864-355-5085.

Sincerely,

Maria Medina
