About Me

My name is Maria Medina. I was born and raised in Riohacha - Colombia in South America. I graduated from “ The Universidad Libre de Colombia” college in Barranquilla with a Bachelor’s degree with major in Law. I came to the United States about ten years ago, and during that time I worked on improving my English language and started a family. I am married and I have two young kids.

My passion of becoming a Spanish teacher started soon after moving to the United States. I love to teach my native language and culture, and my hope is for children to learn another way to communicate and to develop an appreciation and respect for people who speak a different language.

I am a participant of the PACE (Program of Alternative Certification for Educators), and this will be my third-year teaching at Chandler Creek Elementary. I look forward to a fun school year and to show my students how valuable another language can be.
