French I Course Description

Students in French I have the opportunity to develop their basic skills in French language and knowledge of French culture. This courses focuses on developing the 5 Cs of language learning; communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and communities. Course of study includes many interesting cultural highlights as well as language vocabulary and mechanics including the study of greetings, alphabet, numbers, grammatical gender, classroom expressions, days of the week, months, time, family vocabulary, possessive adjectives, descriptions, colors, holidays, food, travel, computers, and present tense verb conjugations,

Emphasis is placed on learning the present tense, the near future and the past tense in French I through thematically designed units. Topics include home, school, family, holidays, and daily and leisure activities.
