About Me...

I am a South Carolina native, however, my family has moved out of state often as a result of my husband's career. Our family recently relocated to Greenville, South Carolina in 2017 and we are thrilled to be "home" again in South Carolina. I have three children: Jordan (20 years old), a college sophomore at the Citadel, Tucker (13 years old) a 7th grader at Beck International Academy, and Marshall (2 years old) a student at the Meyer Center for Special Children. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the College of Charleston and a Master of Education degree in Reading Education from Columbia University Teacher’s College in New York and the University of Virginia. I was formerly the District Literacy Coach for Lexington School District One and a member of the SC Reading Initiative where I earned an additional thirty graduate hours in literacy education. I have worked in a variety of educational settings with a focus on literacy education and remedial reading strategies. It is my passion to help students not only improve their reading skills, but also develop a genuine love of reading. I believe in using multiple strategies and techniques to reach readers where they are and to give them the guided practice needed to build their confidence as readers. My ultimate goal is to help students become strategic readers and thinkers.
