All About Me

Greetings!! Here is a little bit about me so you can get to know me better.

My name is Leisa Pfenning. After ten years of teaching 4K, I am delighted to be joining the ESOL team here at Alexander. To be a part of the vision for Alexander Elementary School and for the ESOL endeavor in Greenville County is a great joy and privilege. This year I will be working with K5, 2nd, and 4th grade students and teachers.

After spending my childhood in Schenectady, NY, I have since lived in four different states, in France for a year and in Gabon, Africa for five years. My husband and I have four grown children. Our daughter and her family live and work in Anderson, SC. Our son and his family live and teach in Southeast Asia. Our younger daughter and her husband live and work here in Greenville. Our younger son and his wife live and work in Winston-Salem, NC. We are very happy to have put down roots here in Greenville and the surrounding area.

I graduated from the University of Vermont, receiving a B.S. in Early Childhood and Human Development. I finished my master's degree in Education with a concentration in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and graduated from Furman University in August 2012. I am certified in the state of South Carolina in ‘Early Childhood’ and ‘English as a Second Language.’ Teaching is a passion and a way of life for me. Besides teaching in various school settings here and abroad, I have been actively involved in our children’s education.

When I am not involved in teaching or church activities, I enjoy outings to the mountains, the beach, or Lake Hartwell with family and friends. I also enjoy gardening, reading, sailing, crocheting, and volleyball. When I get the opportunity, I enjoy sewing wedding dresses or special dresses.

It has been a joy to work with the staff, children and parents of Alexander. I am looking forward to another great year.
