Welcome to Here's Your Sine!

Pre-Calculus is a program of mathematical study focusing on the student’s ability to understand and apply the study of functions and advanced mathematics concepts to solve problems. This course is for students who have successfully completed Algebra 2 and who plans to take Calculus. This is a challenging course and includes a wide variety of topics which will be covered in depth. The course includes the study of Linear, Polynomial, Rational, Exponential, and Logarithmic Functions, as well as Polar and Parametric Curves, Vectors, Conic Sections, and Series and Sequences. Trigonometric Functions will be studied in depth, and students will also study the concept of the Limit—the fundamental building block of Calculus. Students will have many opportunities to use critical thinking skills. Emphasis is placed on active participation through modeling, communication of mathematical ideas, and through the use of technology, including graphing calculators, computers, and data-gathering equipment throughout the course. The content of this course is aligned with all state and national mathematics standards.
