General Information

My self-contained class consists of students with disabilities that impact their academic performance to the extent that they qualify for special education services in a self-contained setting for core instruction. Academic instructional levels vary by student and subject area. All instruction is modified to meet the needs of the student. Students are mainstreamed into related arts classes for their electives. Students will participate in career opportunities both on and off campus. Peer tutors, which are general education students that assist students academically and socially, are a part of our classroom structure.

  1. Students will be in their seats and ready to learn when the bell rings.

  2. Students will respect others and their belongings.

  3. Students will complete assigned work.

4. Students will follow the directions of the teacher.

5. Students will show good effort.

6. Phones are to be kept in the student's backpack during instructional time.

Classroom routines

During the first two weeks of school, all expectations, consequences, reinforcers and procedures will be discussed with students. Rules, reinforcers, and consequences are posted in the classroom and will be reviewed as needed.

In most instances, students does not need a cell phone for school work in my classroom. If cell phones are needed, students will have permission to get their phones out. Otherwise, if a student brings a phone to school, the phone must be kept in his/her backpack during class time. Phones may be used only during lunchtime. If a student continues to violate the class phone policy, a referral will be written.

If you (parent) are providing morning transportation for your child, you may drop-off your child at the BUS LOADING ENTRANCE on the side of the building. Parents may also do afternoon pickup at the side of the building where the student parking lot is located. Please be in line for pick up NO LATER than 3:30. Please keep car tags (given to you at the beginning of the school year) in your window during pickup and drop-off so that the safety staff knows you have permission to be at the side door entrance.

The school open for breakfast as early as 7:45. Students may move to their classrooms at 8:30. School begins at 8:45.
