Extra Help
1 - I offer Extra Help every Tuesday and Thursday morning, from 8:15 to 8:40 in the media center.I will be happy to see you. If multiple students arrive for help, it will be a group tutoring session.
2 - You can also arrange for tutoring with other teachers through JLMann's After School Program, available three days a week after school. JL Mann will distribute info on the After School Program within the first few weeks of school, and it will be posted on the JLMann home page.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR EXTRA HELP:
Arrive for extra help with specific questions written down.
Examples of specific questions: “How is this answer x + 9 instead of y + 9?” “What did I do right and wrong in my steps here?”
Examples of questions that are NOT specific: “What did I miss on Monday?” “How do I do this unit?”
Extra help IS NOT a substitute for missing a lesson: if a class is missed, FIRST go to Classroom to watch the class video and do the assignments, THEN arrange for tutoring. If students arrive for help asking the teacher to re-teach a missed lesson, the teacher will direct them to Google Classroom to watch the video for the day.
Extra help IS a great opportunity for you to get help when you are trying but aren’t quite “getting” it yet, to get some extra personal practice to prepare for an upcoming test, to have your questions answered in a one-on-one (or small group) setting, and to get help with any skills you need for this class but didn’t master in previous grades.
