Algebra Description

Course Objective and Description

This course is an honors-level, high-school credit course designed to prepare students to be successful on the Algebra I End-of-Course Exam, to make a smooth transition into Honors Geometry, and to provide the algebraic foundation for more advanced math courses in high school and in college.

The course will include the structure of algebra, equations, formulas, inequalities, ratios and proportions, functions (polynomial and exponential), systems of equations, techniques of factoring, data analysis, and elementary probability. The South Carolina state standards will apply throughout the course helping students to experience a coherent, useful, and logical body of knowledge that will aid the student in problem-solving situations.
