About Ms. Nations!

I was born and raised in Greenville, SC.I received my undergraduate degree from Columbia College in the area of Psychology. I continued on to Clemson University for my Master's Degree in Community Agency Counseling. While completing my Masters Program, I received my LPC (Licensed as a Professional Counselor). I then became a counselor at Greenville Mental Health and the Department of Social Services. I worked with children that were brought into foster care, returning home to their family, and/or living in a shelter. I was also a Guardian Ad Litem for children that were brought into the foster care system. I appeared in court numerous times on the behalf of the children and what was in their best interest. During this time, I went back to school to receive a Masters Degree in Education from USCS in order to become a school counselor. I worked as a  school counselor here in our Greenville district for three years. As a counselor, I went back again for a Master's at Converse College in Early Childhood in order to become a teacher. I began teaching here at Lake Forest in Kindergarten. I taught Kindergarten for 12 years. I am currently teaching first grade. This is my twelth year as a first grade teacher. While teaching Kindergarten, I completed my National Board Certification in Education for teachers. I am currently Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024. This is such a heart warming and humbling honor. Teaching is a passion and calling for me. I love the opportunity to impact so many lives and form relations that will last a life time.

My daughter, Katelin, is 23 and is transferring to Furman University in order to complete her BS  degree in Biology/Chemistry. She will then continue to complete the program to become a Physician's Assistant.  My son, Rob, is 20 and will be attending Clemson as a Junior in the Business program.  My daughter and son stay very active in their extra-curricular activities. We like spending lots of time together with our family and friends during our free time. I also have 3 very busy dogs that are just like children. They are spoiled rotten.
