About Me

My name is Charlotte White. I grew up in North Carolina, but crossed the border to attend USC in Columbia and have been in South Carolina ever since. I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from USC in 1987 where I was a Magna Cum Laude graduate and a member of Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. In 1989, I received a Masters of Arts in Teaching -Mathematics, also from USC. My husband, Stuart, and I have 6 children and enjoy traveling, scuba diving, hunting, and family time.

I have been with Greenville County Schools for 27 years teaching secondary mathematics. Three of those years I taught at Mauldin High, seven at J.L. Mann, and three at Greenville High. I also served as the Instructional Coach at Beck Academy. While it was a rewarding and challenging experience, I realized how much I truly love teaching. I missed the daily interaction with the students and feel that my talents are best spent in the classroom. I returned to the classroom teaching high school credit honors classes at Riverside Middle School. After 10 great years at Riverside Middle School, I felt the calling to return to my roots of teaching high school. This is my fourth year at Wade Hampton High School, and I am very proud to be a part of such an amazing faculty and staff.

My Philosophy of Education

Education is a right. We have the freedom to choose that right. However, a democracy only functions if its citizens are educated and can make decisions independently and for the good of others.

As educators, we have the responsibility to fulfill that right. All of our students have the capacity to learn. We must adjust our approach when necessary, putting our traditional methods aside to accommodate the different learning styles of our students. We must have the ability to recognize these differences, seek to understand our students and actively meet their needs.

We must set high goals for our students and expect them to meet those goals. Young people need to know that they are valued and capable of succeeding and any level.

Personal Goal

My goal is to create a classroom of independent learners who will appreciate the beauty of mathematics.
