Sneakers (Tennis Shoes) 

Athletic clothing

**If your child cannot participate in PE class, a doctor's note is required to be excused**

All students are presently graded using a “M” which means meeting standards or a “P” which means progressing toward standards.

Class Rules and Code Words

Rules for the Gym:

Wear your tennis shoes or athletic shoes to class.  Be prepared to learn and try new things.  Be respectful to your PE teachers by listening and not talking while he or she is giving instructions.  Be respectful to your classmates-encourage one another, be kind, and helpful.  Be respectful to our class equipment, take care of it like it's your own!

Code Words in the Gym:

• Cucumbers-Stand up and place your hands on your knees (quietly).

• Tomatoes-Sit down wherever you are in the gym (quietly).

• Bananas-Go back to your spot in the gym and sit down (quietly).

We use these code words to stop and game or activity and go over the rules, or to talk about the good things we see happening for example good sportsmanship and kindness, or to get ready to go back to class.

EXPECTATIONS:

1. I teach when there are no distractions.

2. I listen to students who raise their hands.

3. I listen to one person at a time.

4. Please treat me with the same respect I treat you.

5. Students who exhibit unacceptable behavior will first receive a verbal warning. Then they will be asked to sit out for a period of time. Lastly, the teacher may choose to call the parent to inform them of the unacceptable behavior.
