Units of Study
The state of South Carolina has adopted new social studies standards that we will teach this year. These standards are designed to survey world civilizations from prehistory to present day. This year will be full of wonder and discovery, as we teach through an inquiry model. Some topics that will be covered include: Classical Civilizations, Exploration, Renaissance, Global Interdependence and Global Conflict. Some heavier topics you may want to be aware of include: genocide (Holocaust), world religions, and transatlantic slave trade. These topics will be taught at an age appropriate level.
