Grading Guidelines:

The School District of Greenville County Grade Weightings: Standards Based Grading

Teachers will use checklists, observations and rubrics to determine if the student has MET the standards taught during the 9 weeks or if the student is still PROGRESSING towards  meeting the standards.

Numeric grades will no longer be given for assignments or reported on the report card. The  teacher will enter M (MET) or P (PROGRESSING) for the student at the end of each 9 weeks.  The teacher will be expected to keep recorded evidence to support the assessment of M or  P.

Curriculum units found on the district portal show the grouping of standards by grade level  for each 9 weeks. Sample checklists and rubrics will be provided in each unit or teachers  may choose to create their own to monitor student progress.

Most projects can be completed in class. If students are absent, time will be allotted to work on and finish projects in class.

Our Quaver Five Guidelines:       Corrective Student Behavior:

Classroom Expectations:

A. Enter the Music Room quietly, take a seat.

B. Listen carefully  and follow the directions after they are given.

  C. Participate, trying your best to accomplish the goals set per activity.

  D. Hold correctly and take care of instruments used.

  E. Line up to leave the Music Room orderly and quietly.

Materials Needed: Classroom teachers/students will be notified prior to students coming to music)

A. Pencils/colored pencils

B. Chromebooks

C. Any other suggested materials needed per lesson from music programs used

Homework: I do not give homework.

Sometimes, students may be asked to bring an item from home, such as a paper towel roll, to do a project during the music class period. It's OK if they forget or don't have an empty roll on the day their class meets.
