About Ms. Layton

I am excited to have the opportunity to teach MLL students at Lake Forest Elementary School.  I completed my certification in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages at Furman University and The College of Charleston, June, 1995.  I have a Masters Plus 30 in Guidance and Counseling which is an asset to teach students of any grade level or curriculum.  Students in my classes feel cared for, respected,  and appreciated; therefor, they do their best and are not afraid of making mistakes.  However, there are no mistakes in my classroom; only learning experiences which helps everyone grow.

My philosophy in teaching is that all children are special and should be valued.  When students recognize they are valued, they will not only be good students academically but good citizens. And when they go out into the "world,"  they will hopefully carry with them the compassion, honesty, and fairness that are  life skills  demonstrated in  my classes.  The work of a teacher is not only to reach each child's potential as a student, but more importantly, as a human being.
