Rescue Bot
Rescue Bot
The rescue robot was designed based on the Vex BaseBot. During this build, we spent 2 days with our partners building this bot. The rescue bot has 2 sensors. One of the sensors is a sonar which detects the distance from an object. The other sensor is a LED sensor. This sensor can be programmed to change colors.
The bot is programmed to autonomously detect if there is a threat. When the bot gets close to the object, the program will take over and slowly move towards the object. When the bot is within 4 inches of the object, the LED flashes letting the user know that the object is a threat.
Pusedo Code
The user drives the car to the bomb location and places the robot directly in front of the bomb.
E-up Button is pressed on the controller
Deactivates controller and activates the autonomous driving mode
Speed decreases sonar code, which controls the robot’s speed and will slow down the bot to a slow crawl.
The wheels will turn in small increments, and then stop for 2 seconds. This pause will allow the sonar to read the distance
When the bot is less than 4 inches away from the threat, the motor will stop and the LED light will activate the lights to flash from white to blue for 5 seconds. It will remain red to represent the threat.
To reactivate the control, the driver will hit the E-down button
