Classroom Rules & Expectations


Rules:

1. Treat others the way you want to be treated, always practice the Golden Rule and your manners

2. Respect others and their property

3. Listen quietly while others are speaking, pay attention and follow directions

4. Use appropriate language at all times

5. Raise your hand before you speak

6. Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself, no running

7. Put the garbage, recycling and compost in the right spots

8. No toys in the classroom (unless it is an indoor recess or lunch)

9. Work quietly, use your indoor voice or whisper when needed

10. Be responsible at all times for your work and your things

11. Ask for permission, from your teacher, to leave the classroom

12. Do your best work

13. Be honest


Entering in the Classroom:

In the morning:

  • come into the school and hang your backpack on your hook and walk into the classroom quietly

  • begin your Warm-Up and then read silently your Just Right Books, unless Ms. Jay has other instructions for the class

After recess:

  • come into the school and walk into the classroom quietly

  • have a clear desk and be ready to work on the next assignment (or quietly continue assignments from before recess)

Exiting the Classroom:

Before the end of the day, be sure to have everything you need to go home, make sure you have notices and handouts for home, clear the top of your desk, clean under and around your desk (pick up all pencils, papers, etc...)

  • put your chair up and wait quietly to be dismissed

  • as a class, we leave together when Ms. Jay dismisses everyone, walking quietly out the door
