Character Traits

The author does not usually come right out and tell us the character is bossy, determined or resourceful; we will use the character’s thoughts, words and actions to infer and identify his or her personality traits. A character trait is what the character is like on the inside, not their emotions or their physical appearance. As we study character traits, we will analyze the character and how their response to events and their contributions unfold the plot of the story. We will also compare how the character changes over the course of the story and why.
