Behavior Policy
In our class we will be using a card system to keep track of our behavior. This
strategy is used to help monitor each student's behavior and encourage students to do
their best. In addition to helping students display good behavior, this system allows
students to take responsibility for their actions.
Colors:
Green- Good day! your student was following our social contract and all class/ school rules
Yellow- Warning! Your student has been asked the “four questions” and still did not correct their behavior. Once on yellow students will lose half of their
recess. The student will also complete a “Redirection Form” that they must
get signed by his/her parent.
Red- Make better choices! Student continued making bad choices and not following
our social contract/rules. A student on Red will lose all of one of their
recesses. This is in addition to the consequences on yellow.
Purple- Parent contact! Parent will be emailed about student behavior.
Students that continue to not follow our social contract after being on red, the student will also complete a “Redirection Form” that they must get signed by his/her parent. May receive a violation notice based on their behavior.
Citizenship Grade:
Students receiving 2 violations in a trimester will automatically receive a “N” (needs improvement) for Citizenship. In addition, students that are consistently on “Yellow" or "Red" throughout a trimester will receive a “N”. Students receiving a “N” will not be able to make Honor Roll or Principals List and will not be able to participate in recreational school events.
Students receiving 3 violations in a trimester will automatically receive a “U” (unsatisfactory) for Citizenship. In addition, students that are consistently on “Red” throughout a trimester will receive a “U”. Students receiving a “U” will not be able to make Honor Roll or Principal's List and will not be able to participate in recreational school events and activities.
All Gateway Community Charter schools implement the Capturing Kids Hearts approach to behavior management. Part of this approach is the creation and implementation of a Social Contract. This contract is a list of expected behaviors created and agreed upon between both the teacher and students. Everyone who becomes a part of our classroom must sign this contract to state that they agree to our established expectations.
