What is County Band anyway?

County Band is a large honor band that is made up of all the schools in Franklin and Fulton County. A guest instructor is hired to lead the band. The location for the festival rotates each year to a different school. There are two bands: Middle School Band (7 – 9) and a High School Band (9 – 12). Note that 9^th grade students can participate in both. To participate you must first sign-up in the band room. Dr. Plum then goes to a meeting in to participate in a “draft”. During this draft, he tries to get in as many students who are interested as possible into the band. Students are chosen by instruments needed and performance ability. A few items to remember:

• This is an AWESOME opportunity

• If you play a low brass or a less popular instrument such as oboe or bass clarinet your chances of getting selected increases.

• You really should try to do this.
