  • RIGHTS - The Charter - Rights of individual Canadian citizens - Collective rights given to Inuit, Metis and First Nation Canadians - Language rights

  • YOUTH JUSTICE - How the justice system in canada works - How and why youth are treated differently

  • IMMIGRATION - The Points System - Factors that impact immigration - Categories of immigrants - Historical look at imigration policy in Canada

  • ECONOMICS - Rules of supply and demand - Types of economic systems - Values behind economic systems

  • FEDERAL GOVERNMENT - The branches of government - How a law is passed - The role of the media and lobbyist - Elections - Cabinet - Accountability in government

  • TAXATION and SOCIAL PROGRAMS - Government policy on taxation - Link between taxation and social programs - Look at certain existing social programs

  • CONSUMERISM - What impacts consumer choices - Types of advertising - Values underlying consumer choices - Consumer impact on the environment
