Teacher Bio

Dear St. Catherine of Siena Community,

Teaching is an absolute passion of mine. I am very eager to meet and work with every one of you. It is going to be a year full of engagement, learning, and lots of enlightening adventures. I cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us.

I have lived in Martinez for the last five years. Originally from Southern California, I attended Cathedral High School College Preparatory, a Catholic Lasallian school in Los Angeles. I then finished my studies at the University of California Berkeley.

I have worked in Catholic Education for the last fifteen years- five of those abroad in Mexico teaching PreK-8th with the Guadalupana-Plancartina Sisters. I also had the opportunity to teach and serve as vice-principal of my former parish elementary school, Our Lady Help of Christians, where I also served as Religion Coordinator and assisted with the Catechism and Confirmation programs. I returned from Mexico to be part of the founding faculty at De La Salle Academy in Concord, where taught 5th-8th these last five years. I led the first three cohorts of young men through their studies to graduation, while also serving as Community Outreach Coordinator. I absolutely enjoy teaching! It is my mission to instill a love of knowledge in my students. I attempt to teach with a passion for learning so that students may develop a desire to become life-long learners.

As a resident of Martinez, I am thrilled to make the St. Catherine of Siena community a part of my every day journey. I am currently a Lasallian Fellow at St. Mary's College Kalmanovitz School of Education studying educational leadership. I want to bring my dedication to Catholic teaching and the pedagogical insights I am learning as a Lasallian Fellow to the students with whom I am entrusted each day. I truly believe that a Catholic Education is an advantage for life, therefore I believe in having high expectations while assisting and providing opportunities for youth to reach their full potential. As an educator, I have dreams for your child’s future. Together, we will prepare our students for their journey as life-long learners.

I look forward to a great educational journey together!

Mr. Jose R. Rodriguez
