Meet Your School Counselor

Claire Gatlin

Director of School Counseling

Ms. Gatlin graduated from the College of Charleston in 2006. After college she worked at a local non-profit for a few years before completing her Masters degree in School Counseling at the Citadel.  She was a School Counselor at Wando High School and Moultrie Middle School before joining the Lucy Beckham High School team.  Ms. Gatlin is passionate about helping students develop a plan for life after high school and supporting them so they have a balanced,  happy, healthy and fulfilling high school experience. 

Claire lives in downtown Charleston and enjoys walks around the neighborhood, reading, needlepointing, dining at all of the amazing restaurants in the area, and long days at the beach. She writes a monthly article for Old Village Living magazine about education and is very involved in the Junior League of Charleston.

Bridget Price, M.P.A., M.Ed.

School Counselor

Mrs. Price graduated from the College of Charleston with bachelor's degrees in Education and Communication and a master's degree in Public Administration. After working in the education non-profit field and higher education, Price went to The Citadel to receive  a master's in School Counseling. She has since worked as a school counselor at Stratford High School and Wando High School.

Mrs. Price lives in Mount Pleasant with her family and enjoys running and going to the beach.

Ashley Richtmyer

School Counselor

Ms. Richtmyer graduated from the College of Charleston and went on to attend the Citadel Graduate College, where she earned her Master’s degree in School Counseling in 2018. She was a School Counselor at Mamie P. Whitesides Elementary School for three years and during that time, joined the Lucy Beckham family as an assistant cheerleading coach in 2020. She quickly realized her love for working with high school students and became a full-time Bengal for the 21-22 year as our Student Success Coach, where she was able to build relationships with our amazing students and support students on an individual level to help meet their academic needs. Ms. Richtmyer is so excited to be joining our School Counseling Department and is looking forward to another incredible year ahead with our Bengals!

Susie Haws

School Counselor

Mrs. Haws graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Foreign Affairs and a M.A. in Spanish. She also holds a M.Ed. in Counseling from the College of William and Mary and is a National Certified Counselor.

Mrs. Haws began her career in education as a high school Spanish teacher and throughout the years has experienced working in a variety of schools, including public and independent high schools, international schools, and colleges. She is thrilled to join this exceptional Bengal family!  

As a School Counselor, it is her heartfelt desire to empower her students to appreciate and use their personal strengths. She is committed to creating a genuine space in which her students feel valued and confident being themselves. She considers it an honor to be a part of each student’s personal journey and is dedicated to supporting them as they navigate the exciting world of high school and set meaningful goals for the future.

Mrs. Haws lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband, their two children, and their dog. She loves reading, running, and spending time outdoors with her family. 

Henry Snyder

School Counselor


Henry Snyder joined the Lucy Beckham High School counseling department after working at a number of other Charleston County School District schools, at both the middle and high school levels. Originally from Maryland, Mr. Snyder holds degrees from St. Mary's College (BA, Philosophy) and Loyola University (MEd., School Counseling). He moved to the Charleston area about fifteen years ago, and currently lives in North Charleston with his wife. His hobbies include hiking, reading, enjoying live music, and eating food that other people have prepared for him in exchange for money.
