Veterans Day

2017 and 2018

Honoring the men and women who serve our country.

On Friday, November 10, 2017, Field 4th graders learned about Veterans Day. They had the amazing opportunity to discuss their personal connections to members of the Armed Forces as well as meet a Veteran of the Korean War, Mr. John Torchalski. They listened and asked him questions about his life and his time in the Army. The students created a thank you card for Mr. Torchalski. Students spread kindness by creating cards to send to a Veterans Hospital to thank the many men and women for their sacrifices and service to our country and our freedom.

On Monday, November 12, 2018, Field 4th graders had detailed discussions about Veterans Day. Students made connections to their family and friends and those they know in the Armed Forces. We held an assembly for the students where two local veterans from the local Wheeling AMVETS Post 66 came and shared pictures, stories, and answered questions. Students shared their gratitude with kindness cards and appreciative handshakes.
