Community Service
Community Service Hours –
Each freshmen and sophomore in the Health Professions and Therapies Program at Monacan High School are required to serve 15 hours of community service. Juniors and senior are required to have 10 hours of service. There are some stipulations with the community service hours as listed below:
1) 80% must be in a health related event such as helping in a hospital, working an event with disabled individuals, helping a gym teacher with the adaptive PE program, helping the athletic trainer at sporting events. Health related hours can also be obtained by volunteering at any HPT events such as open house, specialty center fairs, interviews, orientations, etc. Volunteering at booster events also count for health related hours. All of these hours must be approved BEFORE doing.
2) 20 % can be used for helping the PTA set up for post prom, stuffing envelopes, etc.
**All community service hours will be credited towards a portion of their mentorship grade during their senior year**
