Did you know:
Every two seconds someone in the world needs blood.
More than 4.5 million patients need blood transfusions each year in the U.S. and Canada.
43,000 pints of donated blood are used each day in the U.S. and Canada.
Only 37% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood.
Less than 10% of those eligible to donate blood donate.
One unit of blood can be separated into several components: red blood cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitate.
If all blood donors gave three times a year, blood shortages would be a rare event.
SAVE A LIFE - DONATE!
When you donate, you help those in need and you help Avon NHS members compete for a scholarship. Thanks to the generous participation of the Avon staff, students, and community, Avon NHS 2017-2018 had two members each receive the scholarship.
Questions? Please contact the Avon HS NHS Advisor, Mrs. Christina Ecklund. Mrs. Ecklund can be reached at: cecklund@avoncsd.org or by telephone: 585-226-2455 X 1641.
Please help us serve those in need of blood transfusions. Please donate during one of our NHS American Red Cross Blood Drives! We are looking forward to a great year of learning, exemplifying the NHS traits of service, scholarship, leadership and character.
