Please note that these are POTENTIAL ensemble offerings. Student interest and staff availability will determine which programs we are able to offer in our innagural year!

Jazz Ensemble

The goal of the Odessa High School Jazz Ensemble is to provide students with a musical experience in the traditional and modern jazz styles. This endeavor will strive to be both educational and enjoyable for the members of the band as well as the audience. Students will be introduced to and begin to identify stylistic traits of traditional and modern jazz. They will also begin a development of certain jazz idiomatic concepts such as the swing style and how it varies historically within Jazz, it's performers, and their ensembles. This ensemble also seeks to introduce students to improvisation and provide them with strategies for success in improvising a solo. Other musical skills which will be addressed include intonation, blend/balance, and technical development. Ultimately, through these studies, students will more thoroughly understand the cultural and artistic relevance of jazz through performance.

Winter Color Guard

The goal of the Odessa High School Winter Guard is to provide students with a continued performance experience through the exposure to the winter color guard activity. This endeavor will strive to be both educational and enjoyable for the members of the winter color guard and the audience. The students will be introduced/continue to strengthen basic skills in the color guard activity as well as provide a basic dance education, experience in a performance setting and strengthen team building skills. The ensemble also encourages and produces a team leadership program that empowers students to lead an organization of their peers through positive support and guidance. Ultimately, through these experiences the students will have an added exposure to other cultural and artistic mediums that surround them in their community and activity.

Indoor Drumline

The goal of the Odessa High School Indoor Drumline, is to provide students with a continued performance experience through the exposure to the indoor drumline activity. This endeavor will strive to be both educational and enjoyable for the members of the indoor drumline and the audience. The students will be introduced/continue to strengthen basic skills in the drumline activity as well as provide a basic movement education, experience in a performance setting and strengthen team building skills. The ensemble also encourages and produces a team leadership program that empowers students to lead an organization of their peers through positive support and guidance. Ultimately, through these experiences the students will have an added exposure to other cultural and artistic mediums that surround them in their community and activity.

TIA Winds

TIA Winds presents marching ensembles of any instrumentation in the same performance environment as indoor color guard and percussion ensembles. As a "Best Community for Music Education", the Appoquinmink School District and Odessa High School are bringing the same exciting competitive and educational opportunities to students in the winds section in support of the total band program.
