Printer Installation Guide - Windows

Students are only required to install one printer called "Student_Printing".

Requirements for installation:

1. You are in school and connected to the school wifi network.

2. You have administrator rights to install applications on the laptop.


Installing the WIS printer to a Windows Computer

1. On your desktop, open the Start Menu and type "Run".

2. Click to open Run from the list of search results as seen below.

3. Type the following into the text box: \\192.168.73.101

4. Click OK

A login screen will appear.

5. Type in the following username and password to connect to the print server:

username: wis\printing

password: printing

6. Once you are connected to the print server, you will see the following folder with printers and other folders:

7. Double-click on the Student_Printing icon to install the printer to your laptop.

8. When the installation is complete you should see Student_Printing on your list of printers.

After installing the printer, you need to install the PaperCut client on your computer. The PaperCut client allows you to see your updated printing balance and helps your computer authenticate with the print server.

9. On the same print server folder (\\192.168.73.101), open the folder called PCClient.

10. Within the PCClient folder, copy the win folder to your desktop. This folder contains the installation files for the PaperCut client.

11. Open the the win folder on your desktop and run the client-local-install.exe application. This will install the client on your computer.

12. After completing the installation, the PaperCut login box will appear. Login using your wisdom username and your birthday in reverse as your password. (YYMMDD) ex. birthday is Jan 1st 1999, your password should be: 990101

You can change your printing password by logging in to printing.wis.edu.hk.

After logging in, the PaperCut client will be displayed on the upper right hand corner of your screen, showing your current balance.

You can start sending documents to Student_Printing.

You may use your student smart card or log in with your username and password to release your documents from the photocopiers around school.

Students are able to print and photocopy in the following areas in school:

  • A5 G&A

  • A8 Languages

  • B6 DT corridor

  • B7 Library x 2

  • B8 Science corridor

  • D6 Art office

  • D7 corridor x 2

  • D10 corridor
