Printer Installation Guide - Mac OS

Students are only required to install one printer called "Student_Printing".


Requirements for installation:

1. You are in school and connected to the school wifi network.

2. You are logged in to WISDOM.

3. Connected to the Print Server.


Connecting to the Print Server

1. In the Finder, choose Go > Connect to Server.

2. Type the network address for the print server smb://192.168.73.101 in the Server Address field.

3. Click the "+" button to save this server and click Connect.

4. Type the following information in the Name and Password field.

Name: wis\printing

Password: printing

5. Tick on the Remember this password in my keychain option.

6. Click Connect.

7. Click OK in the folder selection box. (check your username and password if no folder selection box appears)


Installing the WIS printer to a Mac Computer

1. Download your printer driver here: Konica Minolta Support Site (Make sure you download the correct driver for your OS version)

2. Install the printer driver (.dmg file)

3. Download the PaperCut Client (Make sure you are logged in to WISDOM)

4. Open the file you just downloaded and run "client-local-install" to install the PaperCut client on your computer.

Sometimes Mac OS will block applications from installing/running so you will need to allow the application to Run. Go to your computers System Preferences, Security and Privacy to allow applications to run.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop PCClient to your Applications folder.

5. After installing PCClient, a login box will appear on your desktop.

6. Log in to the PaperCut client after installation, use your WISDOM username and password (birthday YYMMDD by default). ex. birthday is Jan 1st 1999, your password should be: 990101

You can change your printing password by logging in to printing.wis.edu.hk.

7. Your balance will be shown on the client that is on the upper right hand corner of your screen.

After installing the PCClient and printer, you will now need to Add the printer in System Preferences \ Printers & Scanners.

8. Open Printers & Scanners

9. Click on the "+" sign to add a new printer, the Add box should open

In some cases, the Advance Tab is hidden, right-click on the toolbar and select customise, drag Advanced to the toolbar.

10. Click Done and click Advanced settings

11. Under Advanced, use the following information:

12. From the Type dropdown menu, choose LPD/LPR Host or Printer

13. In the URL field, type lpd://192.168.73.101/Student_Printing (this is case sensitive)

14. Name: Student_Printing

In the Use pulldown menu at the bottom of the window, click Select Software. In the window that appears select Konica C654e PS (You can type that in the Filter box in the top right to find it faster.) Click OK to close that window, then click Add to complete the process.

You may use your student smart card or log in with your username and password to release your documents from the photocopiers around school.

Students are able to print and photocopy in the following areas in school:

  • A8 Languages corridor

  • B6 DT corridor

  • B7 Library x 2

  • B8 Science corridor

  • D6 Art office

  • D7 corridor x 2

  • D10 corridor
