FAQs

Who is eligible?

All children in the Sherman-Williamsville School District who will be at least three years old by September 1 of the current school year are eligible to be considered for the Pre-Kindergarten program. Children who are age eligible for kindergarten (five years old by September 1) are not eligible for Pre-K.

How does my child qualify for the Pre-Kindergarten Program?

The first step in qualifying for the Pre-K program is to have your child screened through SASED's Child Find process. We host two of these screenings a year, one in the fall and one in the spring. SASED also holds these screenings at local daycares and community preschools, as well as other school districts. Please watch the website for upcoming dates.

The Pre-K staff evaluates the screening information and parent interview form to make to all placement decisions.

When are placement decisions made?

The placements are not made until the fall screening is completed. If your child is not placed in the program, they do remain on the waiting list for the remainder of the school year. If your child is placed in the Pre-K program, they may continue in the program until they are age-eligible for kindergarten.

When does the Pre-K school year begin and what are the hours of the program?

There is an AM and a PM class that meet five days per week. The AM session is from 8:00 am - 10:30 am, and the PM session is from 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm. In district bussing is available for all children.
