Tuition

Tuition rates are charged based on a student’s academic profile. In TFMS, they are very similar to Term Fees. But, they have a very distinct business process for setting and approving the rates. Access to tuition rates is more limited than the other fee types. As such, you may not see the tuition fee types.

Create a new tuition rate/fee

Refer to the TFMS User Guide "Tuition Rates: Create a New Fee" for instructions on setting up  a new tuition rate (fee type).

Modify an existing tuition rate/fee

The status of a fee affects the updates that you are able to make. RRC managers can update any field if the status is “In development” or “Ready for RRC”. Because the business process for setting and approving rates is distinct, tuition rates should not be entered until they have received University Budget and Finance approval.

For instructions on how to update an existing a tuition rate (fee type), refer to the TFMS User Guide “Tuition Rates: Update a Fee.”

Request a tuition rate change after OBF approval

Because the business process for setting and approving rates is distinct, tuition rates should not be entered until they have received University Budget and Finance approval. An acceptable example of a tuition rate change is for programs with a summer start where the summer rate change was approved.  Refer to the TFMS User Guide "Change Request Form" for instructions on how to create and use the change request form.

Archive a Tuition Rate

If a fee was entered in error or was copied from a previous fiscal year and is no longer valid, it can be archived. Fees cannot be deleted, but archiving them prevents them from rolling over to the next fiscal year and archived fees are not shown in search results unless specifically indicated.

You can only update a fee if the status is one that matches your role. If the fee has been moved to one of the other roles, use the Comments field to communicate that you want the fee removed.
