Track and Cross Country Teams

Cross Country is a distance running sport where athletes compete at running distances ranging between 1 and 2 miles.  The season is held in the fall.  It begins in September and typically ends by the end of October.

Track & Field is a spring sport with a wide variety of events for students to compete.  Students run sprints at distance of 100M, 200M & 400M and longer distances of 800M(1/2 mile) and 1600M(mile).  Students also can compete in the long jump, high jump, shot put and discuss events.

Both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams compete against local middle schools throughout Sussex County.  Students are provided transportation to and from each meet.  We do our best to bring students to an equal number of meets throughout the season.

In addition to the regular meets, both sports offer 'Invitational Meets' that are more competitive in nature and provide a higher level of competition for select team members.

All students participating in either the Cross Country or Track & Field teams need an up to date athletic physical on file with the school.

Please make sure the physical is completely filled out or your child will not be permitted to participate.

-The history form needs to be filled out and dated PRIOR to the physical exam.  The doctor needs to review the history form filled out by the parent at the time of the physical.

-The physical exam page MUST have  of exam, physician signature,  stamp, and physician signature for cardiac module.

-Incomplete forms will be returned

-Athletic Physicals are valid for 365 days.

-Students with an athletic physical on file that is over 90 days old will need to also complete an update questionnaire.
