SlideRocket

What is SlideRocket?

  • SlideRocket is an online program similar to PowerPoint. You can access SlideRocket from any computer that is connected to the internet. You can create slides that include text, pictures, audio, and video.

  • For this project, you will be creating an instructional video using SlideRocket. Your slides should include very few words as you will be narrating each slide. Use the slide as a visual to support your audio narration.

What you need:

  • computer with access to internet

Before you begin:

  • Look at the following examples of a SlideRocket presentation. They will give you good design tips as you prepare your presentation.

  • Design your slides with few to zero words. Use visuals to teach your audience. Collect or create the pictures you need.

  • Write your script for the narration of the slides.

  • As you design your presentation, think about what you want your audience to learn at the end. Are you clearly communicating this to the audience?

What to do:

  1. Look at the instructions below to log in to Google Apps and SlideRocket.

  2. Create your slides.

  3. Record audio using the steps below. Speak clearly and loudly.

  4. If you need help with SlideRocket, click here.

  5. When you are finished, embed your SlideRocket and put other required information in your ePortfolio - instructions

How to access SlideRocket and record audio

Access SlideRocket by logging in to Google Apps and then click More and choose SlideRocket from the drop down menu.

Click on the interactive tour for an introduction to SlideRocket. Tutorials and help are offered with the links on the left. (To access these tutorials later, click Help in the upper right corner or click here.)

The tutorial "How to Record Live Audio" will show you how to add audio to your slides.

Click "New" to create a new presentation.

Choose a theme.

SlideRocket is similar to PowerPoint. You can add pictures, text, audio and video to your slides. Experiment with the buttons on the left.

  • To add a new slide, click the New button in the lower left.

  • To change the layout of a slide, click the layout drop down menu for other choices.

To record audio, click the Audio button in the lower left, then click Record.

The first time you do this, you will need to click Allow to allow the program access to your computer microphone.

Now click Start Recording, and record the audio for that slide.

When you are done, click Stop Recording.

Your audio will appear. If you need to record again, simply repeat the steps.
