Adopting a Cat

Adopting a Cat

Our adoption process requires you to fill out an application which helps us determine if you and the animal are a good match.  These forms must be submitted prior to you meeting the animal, but do not commit you to adopting.  If you do adopt, you will also be required to sign an adoption contract.

For the fastest possible response, please be sure to answer all mandatory questions in full, to obtain permission from your landlord for a cat (if applicable) and to let your references know that a RCHS representative will be contacting them (from a personal phone number, as the number will not show up as RCHS on caller ID).

Submit the form linked to below:

Email/Fax

If you experience difficulties with the online application, please copy and paste the contents of both of these files into an email and submit them to cat-adopt@rchsks.org

You can also copy them to a document and fax the completed application to 888-701-8936

It typically takes 3-5 business days for us to review your submissions. Once this is completed, if the application has been pre-approved, we will  contact you to schedule a time and place for you to meet the animal. If you and the animal are determined to be a match, you will then be asked to sign a copy of your adoption contract. It is important that you read and understand the adoption contract as it is considered a fully executed contract once signed.

Costs of Adoption

The adoption fees are typically $60 for one adult cat and $100 for a kitten under 6 months or a pair of adult cats.   For a pair of kittens under 6 months, the adoption fee is typically $150.  Highly desirable animals such as purebred cats may have a special, higher adoption fee which will vary based on the expected level of interest.  These adoption fees help to cover the cost of vaccinations to date and spay/neutering.
