Supervising Teachers

Role of the Supervising teacher: This is the teacher(s) who is responsible for students who are introducing their movie before each screening

Responsibilities before the day of the Film Festival

  • Check all movies are scheduled to publish on the class blogs at 9am on the day of the film festival: Instructions here for teachers

  • Sharing links to your films from the Film Festival Site

  • Check all the sessions and note when your movies are being screened. Some movies will be screened more than once. Presenters will be required to introduce their movie each time it is screened during the festival. You will need to print out the session run sheets for each theatre and highlight the movies your presenters are introducing.

  • Are presenters available to introduce their movie if it is screening in the evening session? Have their parents been contacted to confirm presenters are available in the evening and transportation is confirmed. Have you ordered tickets for the parents of presenters?

  • Organise transportation to Sylvia Park for your presenters. They will need to be in the theatre 20mins before the session starts.

  • Once they have introduced their movie, they are to return to school at the end of the session e.g. If their movie is only screening once, when your school is visiting, organise for them to return with the rest of your school. If they are introducing their movie screening in another session you will need to organise transportation back to school.

  • If you have presenters who are staying for more than one session make sure they come prepared with some water and a snack. Please escort them outside for a break when not presenting.

  • No Food and Drink in theatre (purchasing popcorn, bringing food, sweets etc) please communicate this to all staff and students

The Introduction: this provides a context for your movie and replaces movie titles and credits. Clever introductions segue into the movie. Consider dressing the presenters in costumes from the movie, otherwise they should be in school uniform. This includes the evening performance.

  • During the screenings there is 40 seconds between each movie to allow for presenters to access the stage, introduce their movie and depart the stage. Presenters will have 30 seconds to introduce their movie. The introduction will need to be written and practised by the presenters so they know this without notes (it will be dark so notes are useless).

  • If you want your presenters for Session One to familiarise themselves with the stage, doors will open at 9am.

  • Are presenters available to introduce their movie if it is screening in the evening session? Have their parents been contacted to confirm presenters are available in the evening and transportation is confirmed. Have you ordered tickets for the parents of presenters.

Responsibilities on the day of the Film Festival
