Bookshare

Bookshare accounts are available to all staff as needed to serve specific special education students. Contact your AT Coordinator for more information

Purpose:

To provide students with access to digital versions of text that needs to be accessed for learning. This includes text books, current literature, as well as classic texts.

Student Requirements:

Student must have either a visual disability, physical disability, or reading disability (basic reading) supported by an IEP.

Students will need to be able to use read out loud to access the digital file. Read:OutLoud requires the student to be able to navigate the computer and comprehend auditory information.

How it works:

Bookshare is a repository of electronic text from many different sources. Students with a qualifying disability get free membership through their educational institution and can apply for individual membership as well. Once accounts are created, teachers/students can download digital versions of materials and then use the computer to "read" the content out loud to the student.
