First Session of 2019-2020 School Year!

The staff of Manchester's 21st Century Community Learning Centers are busy preparing for the first session of the new school year. Registration forms have been sent out and we are already received a great response from our families. Flyers are available for download on this website here. This year we are also welcoming our new Program Director, Tom McGee, and Program Coordinator, Liz Penn.

Our 21st Century sites are also hiring for hourly staffing positions to aide in our programming. If you enjoy working with children and positively impacting the education of youth, visit our Work With Us page to apply today!

Thank you Officer Mullen!

This morning Mrs. Coburn took a group of students attending our Northwest Summer Program out to learn how to play Disc Golf. To their surprise, Officer P. Mullen of the Manchester NH Police stopped by to play along! After playing with the students, he handed out police sticker badges and coupons for a free slushy!

We would like to thank Officer Mullen for making these students' morning and taking time out of his busy day to spend with us! And thank you to the rest of the Manchester NH Police Department for truly making a difference in our community!

All three of our summer elementary programs will be treated to a storytelling presentation and brand new books to keep, thanks to a grant from the Children's Literacy Foundation (CLiF). Families and children are welcome to attend any of the events listed below!

  • July 10 - Storyteller Marty Kelley, 12:45 Northwest Elementary School

  • July 15 - Storyteller Erin Moulton, 12:45 Beech Street Elementary School

  • July 22 - Storyteller Simon Brooks, 12:45 Bakersville Elementary School

WZID's Teacher of the Month

Congratulations to the April WZID Teacher of the Month, Alexandrea Proulx! Alex is the Site Coordinator at the Middle School at Parkside and we're so fortunate to have her as part of the 21C team!!

Re-Applying for Funding

The 21st Century Competition for funding has been announced by the New Hampshire Department of Education and we will be seeking another five years of funding for the programs at Bakersville, Gossler Park, Hallsville, McDonough and Parker Varney Elementary Schools, in addition to, all four of Manchester’s public middle schools.

Our goal is to maintain the same level of excellent service and quality of programming for the next five years at these nine schools. We are currently soliciting your ideas, suggestions and letters of support for the program from students, parents, staff and other community members. If you are interested in writing a letter of support, or sharing how the Manchester 21 CCLC before and after school programs have had an impact on you personally, please email srichard@mansd.org.

Sit and Knit

Students at Beech St. are really enjoying the new Sit and Knit club where they get to learn about counting stitches and rows and create different patterns to knit. Yesterday Ms. Gonzalez was speaking with one of her students about wanting to knit a hat for her dogs. The student later surprised her with hats for each of her dogs. Meet Solomio, modeling his new winter hat!
