SOCIAL DANCE
This class is perfect for the experienced and novice dance student. We welcome all dance abilities and backgrounds in this class. We ensure a safe and fun learning environment for you to learn and enjoy dance movement.
OBJECTIVES:
Learn about each dance style, the period of origination and how the dances reflected what was going on in society during the given time period.
Identify the names of various steps
Execute longer sequences of choreography
Demonstrate rhythmical awareness
Collaborate, create and perform with small groups and partners
Understand the fitness components, concepts and terms and how they are associated with dance
Perform a variety of fitness activities through daily warm ups.
8. Participate in fitness assessments 2 times a semester
GRADING - Participation 60%, Fitness 20%, Skill 10%, Final Dance 10%
MEDICAL RESTRICTION FORM.....to be completed by doctor if student needs modifications for PE
