AHS PE COURSE OVERVIEW

**If you would like to be added to a class Google Classroom please email Mrs. Abner to be invited.

I was born in Vancouver Washington and I moved to Naperville Illinois when I was 5. I grew up in Naperville and I graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in 1993. My high school experience was very positive as I was actively involved all four years as a leader in Student Council and an athlete on the soccer and basketball teams. I completed my undergraduate studies in Physical Education at Illinois State University in Bloomington, Illinois.

I began teaching Physical Education at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois in 1997. I taught in Illinois five years before relocating to the Denver area with my husband. Shortly after moving to Colorado, I completed my Masters Degree in Sports Management from the University of Northern Colorado.

I have three boys.....Andrew (15), Liam (13), Charlie (11). In my free time away from teaching I enjoy playing tennis, golf and soccer, hiking with my family, traveling on breaks and coaching my kids sports teams. This year at Arapahoe, I will be the Student Council Advisor and Assistant Coach for Girls Tennis.

I have enjoyed teaching and coaching at AHS for the past 18 years. I am excited you have decided to take my PE class or that you are considering it. I look forward to sharing my passion for physical fitness with you. WHY I TEACH: I teach to empower young people to learn the skills and knowledge to engage in physical activity and to provide an experience for teenagers to improve their mental, physical and social wellness through movement and sport.
