Dr.Salam Ghafour Taher
Outline Biography
Salam is a associate professor of Synthetic Organic Chemistry in the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science and Health, at Koya University. He joined the work at Koya University in 2004 as an assistant researcher.
He gained a B.Sc. degree in General Educational Chemistry from Collage of Education, Salahaddin University in 2003, M.Sc. degree with distinction in Environmental Organic Chemistry (MCLP MSc course) from Bangor University (United Kingdom) in 2007, and Ph.D. degree in Synthetic Organic Chemistry in 2014.
He was head of the Department (2009-2010) in College of SciencDepartment of Chemistry\ University of Koya.
Research Interests
1. Organic Synthesis. This includes the enantiopure synthesis of biologically active compounds (bacterial cell wall components, drugs). Isolation and characterization of natural products is also of my interest research area.
2. Green Organic Chemistry: includes the design, modification of some important organic reactions. This aims to reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous materials that could be harmful to public health, environment.
