Day 15 Bolam Pass to Echo Park

We took it easy today to recover. Much of the riding was along the spine of the San Juans on a beautiful ridge trail with sheer drop offs and amazing views. Of course it was not a day on the CT without climbing a pass. Today's was Blackhawk Pass. We saw another thru hiker heading north. As evening approached we made a dry camp on a gorgeous spine of rock that jutted out over Echo Basin. Elk grazed in the meadow below (look close in photo below), Rico and the La Plata mts rose to the W, Telluride and Lizard Head to the N, Silverton and the Weminuche to the E. A late day shower grazed us but provided great lighting for photos. We lamented our last night out over a game of cribbage. Despite needing to melt snow for water this was our best camp of the whole trip. Though I signed one more day (see photo) I wrote in my journal that night, "It is hard to believe it is almost over. It has been quite a journey- one that I do not want to end."
