School Fitness Plan

Fitness Plan 2017-18

The school wide fitness plan should encourage more physical activity from students every day without getting in the way of teachers and students rigorous daily schedules. In addition to the students’ weekly physical education and recess time the following will be put into place to add more physical activity minutes throughout the day, encourage activity, exercise, healthy habits, and more movement. This should also encourage teachers to do the same and to lead by example as well.

1. Moving in the Morning will air on LFTV 5 days a week for 1-3minutes minute to provide a minute of exercise to get the students awake and alert for the day. This should be aired at the end of everything else so if an exercise requires more space, a class can divide into groups or in half to accommodate.

2. During Recess, 1st grade students will walk/run a minimum of one lap on the track with their teacher. 2nd through 5th grade students will walk/run a minimum of 2 laps on the track with their teacher. This can be at the beginning or at the end of their recess time.

3. Have a continuous fitness program that teachers can do with their students outside of PE, during part of recess, but not all of it.
