Cardinal Character

Cardinal Character is the universal instruction in Social-Emotional Learning for all K-3 students in the Clarinda Community School District.

Cardinal Character utilizes Second Step curriculum for SEL.

Kindergarten, and 1st grade meet for Cardinal Character classes every four days, for 40 minutes.

2nd grade and 3rd grade meet for Cardinal Character once a week for 30 minutes.

The Cardinal Character curriculum is aligned with the American School Counselor Association Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success and the Clarinda Community School District Benchmarks and Indicators by focusing on the three areas of:

*Academic Development

*Career Development

*Personal/Social Development

Together we will learn about various topics throughout the year. Topics include (but are not limited to) bullying, friendship skills, feelings, safety, careers, teamwork, conflict resolution, homework/study skills and test preparation.
