Feast or Famine/Giving Week

Each year SWS hosts Feast or Famine to bring the issues of world hunger to the attention of East High School. Feast or Famine is a vivid demonstration that 2/3 of the population goes hungry every day, while the other 1/3 has plenty of food. A random drawing takes place at the door to determine if the participant will be part of the Famine and receive water and rice, or if they will be entitled to the Feast and be lavished with food including turkey, ham, side dishes, and desserts. One spin is $4, or you can pay $12 for the Feast. The event is fun, educational and all funds raised go to the Food Bank of Alaska. Parents are integral to this event in providing food, helping set up, take down, doing dishes, and driving extra food to the homeless shelter. This event is in November; watch for a Signup Genius closer to the event if you would like to help.Â
