Equipment & Supplies for Orchestra

The following materials are necessary for the best possible experience in orchestra. Please let us know if you need help getting any of these items!

• Properly sized instrument

• Good fitting, sturdy case with enough room for equipment.

• Shoulder rest (Purchase the KUN brand, original)*

• Chin rest (Purchase the TEKA brand)

• Fine tuners on each string

• Bow should have real horse-hair

• Cleaning cloth

• Rosin

• Secure end-pin stopper (Cello/Bass)

• Luggage tag for instrument case

• Extra set of strings

HOME PRACTICE Essentials:

• Music stand

• Full length mirror

*Some rental programs will include the KUN in their package and others will not. It is worth the extra investment, as it is highly adjustable to fit all of the different shapes and sizes of musicians’ shoulders. It is important to get the regular model (not the collapsible or ‘super’) and the correct size: ½ size violinists will need a ½- ¾ sized KUN. ¾ - full sized Violins will need a full size KUN shoulder rest.
