Short Vowel & Skill Intensive
(Done as needed!)
Remember that the vowel intensive is almost like a part 4 to the 3 part drill. This is not something that you would do daily, but maybe once a week or as you see your students needing this. You do not have to use only vowels either. This is a great drill for b and d reversals too.
Another option for vowel intensive. This could be great for a small group intervention.
Use cups and have students place seasonal items into the cup when they hear the sound.
Have students use a piece of paper to tally when they hear the vowel sound. Make it a game and have students predict what vowel sound will be said the most.
Have students jump over the line when they hear the correct vowel (or skill) sound.
Write the vowel or skill on their thumb and have them give you the correct thumb when they hear the correct sound!
Long Vowel Intensive
(Do this only after teaching the six vowel teams)
