Essential Learnings
IN 6th Grade Literature & Language Arts we will:
•Focus on increasing our Higher Order Thinking Skills.
•Continue to improve our writing abilities
•Master writing summary paragraphs
•Work on our research skills using outline methods for organizing
•Make natural text-to-self & text-to-world connections
•Continue to improve our ability to draw conclusions on what we read.
•Analyze conflicts & solutions in our stories through a Christian viewpoint or perspective.
•Compare and contrast multiple stories from various American ethnic and cultural perspectives, & the way in which those stories reflect the ethnic background of the author and the culture.
•Compare and contrast a variety of historical fiction and non-fiction stories from America’s past that reflect experiences unique to the United States and the strength and principles on which it was built
•Continue to practice public speaking via class discussions as well as project presentations
