By Public Transport
A mere 15-minute walk or a 3-minute ride on Tram 26 from Centraal Station (exit at the Kathenburgerstraat stop).
By Bike
A scenic 5-minute ride along the waterfront from Centraal Station.
By Car
Parking is available at the Piet Hein garage for drivers.

By Car
We do not recommend renting a car from the airport. Public transport is a much better way to get into and around Amsterdam, with many links from the airport to the city centre.
By Train
From the airport, you can take any direct train to Amsterdam Centraal Station, which is a 15 to 20-minute journey. There are usually 8 or more trains per hour, making them frequently available. Tickets for NS (Dutch Railways) trains from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal Station cost €5.20.
By Taxi
If you need a taxi from the airport to Amsterdam, we recommend Uber. It is legal and competitively priced from the airport. Guide Price: €30-40. Taxis from official taxi stands are the most expensive option, with a Guide Price of €70.

The Municipality of Amsterdam has announced security closures around Dam Square due to a state visit from the Emperor of Japan on Wednesday, 17 June.
Main impact times:
Security area closed: 08:00 – approx. 13:30
Setup starts from 05:00
Ceremony time: 09:15 – 12:00

Dam Square
Royal Palace
National Monument
Damstraat / Paleisstraat / Rokin / Damrak
Important travel & access information
Several streets will be closed to cars and some also to bicycles
Parking garages in the area will be inaccessible during the closure period
Tram lines 4 and 14 will be diverted or shortened between approximately 08:30 – 13:00
Cyclists will need to follow diversion routes

Expect travel delays on 17 of June
Leave earlier if commuting through the city centre

The best way to get from one place to another is on foot or by hiring a bicycle. Amsterdam also has a comprehensive tram and metro network that can take you to most places in the city. For details on ticket prices and to plan your journey, visit https://gvb.nl/en/travel-information/journey-planner.
You can purchase tickets on all trams for one hour (€3.40), 24 hours (€9.50), or 1-7 days (from €9.50 to €42.50). Please note: trams do not accept cash. Remember to check in and check out every time you get on or off trams and metros. Do so at one of the readers by the tram doors or at the entrances/exits to metro stations. The I amsterdam City Card provides unlimited access to public transport operated by the city transport system (GVB), including trams.
